Sand Point Community UMC (Seattle, WA): Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries

Sand Point Community United Methodist Church in northeast Seattle is hiring a Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries. 

This salaried position requires 35 hours per week with fewer summer hours from mid-June until September. The hours are to be coordinated with the pastor; Sundays and Christmas Eve are required. (Hours may be reduced while our building remains closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our staff is working from home during the pandemic until our building re-opens.)

The Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries:

  • connects children, youth, young adults and families to each other and integrates them into the wider life of the church;
  • develops outreach strategies to invite new families and to connect the congregation to the wider community;
  • Works with the Pastor and staff to develop a ministry program which complements the faith formation for children, youth and their families;
  • Leads spiritual and faith forming education for Children and Youth each Sunday (including Children’s Time during worship);
  • Recruits and supports volunteers.


  • Christian faith that includes an understanding of the Bible beyond a literal interpretation;

Kent UMC (Kent, WA): 3/4 time Digital Media and Communications Specialist

Responsibilities of this Position

Support Video Needs of the Church

Production and post-production of Sunday worship services and other special services/events.  Includes: shooting, editing, streaming, uploading, cataloging, and filing videos/recordings for future use.  Editing may include the compilation of multiple professional and amateur videos, slides, music, and special effects.   Amateur submittals may be filmed using smartphones and cameras at home and could be in a variety of formats.

Produce video resources for internal and external ministry and outreach.

Maintain church’s video library/database.

Maintain video/recording equipment.   Ensure proper and secure storage.

Manage Website, Social Media, and Online Platforms/Tool/Applications

Design and oversee the development of content and look of the church app, website, and social media including posts on social networking services as Instagram and Facebook.

Manage office staff to implement the content and design of church app, website, and social media.

Develop a Strategy for Building Internal/External awareness and Participation in Church Mission

Participate in developing a general communication strategy for the church.

Help worship, music staff, and program staff to design all events with an eye toward use of digital media and sound tech.

Working with the Pastor and other Directors, resource the Inviting, Welcoming, Discipleship, and Congregational Care Teams of KUMC to guarantee the success of our disciple-making systems.

Support the Pastor and other Directors in communicating and teaching the Jesus Way of discipleship practiced at Kent UMC to expand the mission-based culture (outlined in the church covenant).

Recruit and Nurture an Effective Team

Identify, recruit and train additional resources from the congregation for support.

Schedule and manage volunteers who staff the audio-visual needs for Sunday worship and other special church activities and events.

Perform Administrative Duties

Responsible to track and report to church leaders key analytics and statistics from the various online platforms and help design new online media strategies.

Prepare and manage the audio-visual/digital media budget.

Abide by the Personnel Policies and Safe Church Policies of Kent United Methodist Church

Attend staff and leadership meetings as appropriate and collaborate with Lead Pastor, Directors, Staff, and other Church Leaders as necessary.

Spiritual and Technical Growth

Continue to grow in knowledge and skills for discipleship, Christian Leadership, and vital ministry in the local church. Model discipleship.

Qualifications for this Position

Background in design and creation in the areas of videography, sound, social media and website applications and platforms.

Supervise workings of the finance office including: 

  • Gather information in preparation for annual budget development

Job Summary:  The Lead Nursery Attendant will implement the Nursery/Preschool Sunday School program, creating a safe and loving environment for young children (ages 0 through 5 years) during Sunday worship and special events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work up to 3 hours on Sunday morning providing care and programming for children age 5 and under (8:45am to 11:45am), plus 1 additional hour each week for planning and preparation.  Occasional additional work hours will be available periodically during meetings and special events.
  • Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, seeking to know, love, and serve God.
  • Understand and be able to champion the church’s purpose, vision, and journey, as well as the theology and traditions of the United Methodist Church.
  • Establish and maintain good communication with, and be responsive to, parents and guardians.
  • Use personal creativity to actively engage children while leading learning activities and teaching the provided curriculum.
  • Provide a safe, clean environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.  Disinfect tables and chairs weekly.  Clean toys, furniture, and materials as needed.
  • Ensure that each child has a current registration form on file, and that all children are signed in and out.
  • Communicate with nursery coordinator regularly.
  • Work with the Director of Children’s, Youth, and Family Ministries to recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteer nursery assistants.
  • Attend quarterly Sunday School Teachers Meetings and occasional staff meetings.
  • Follow written rules and procedures for the Nursery, including the Safe Sanctuary policies of Moran United Methodist Church.

Skills and Qualifications:  

  • Prior experience working with infants and young children is strongly preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to relate well to children and their families
  • Possess strong communication and organization skills
  • Ability to frequently change position: stand, sit, kneel, bend, and carry children
  • Ability to lift and carry children up to 35 pounds
  • Must be certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR, or willing to become certified upon hire
  • Prior experience working with children with disabilities preferred
  • Present the results of a current (within 1 year) Tuberculin test and current immunizations.
  • Must pass a National Background Check.

Trinity UMC (Seattle, WA): P/T Treasurer

Trinity United Methodist Church (TUMC) in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood is a progressive Christian community dedicated to the words and ways of Jesus that lead to joy and justice.

TUMC seeks a part-time Treasurer. The Treasurer will work an average of 7 hours a week to administer the day-to-day finance operations of the church. The treasurer will manage the church’s general ledger and special accounts, ensure payroll is met, and carry out duties associated with accounts payable at TUMC. The treasurer will also produce regular financial reports to support the financial oversight committees of the church. We seek a person with professional training in bookkeeping or accounting, with at least three years of professional experience, or five years of experience as a volunteer bookkeeper with a non-profit organization. The position pays $20 per hour.
