General Conference is the top policy-making body of The United Methodist Church, which meets once every four years. The conference can revise church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy, and economic issues. It also approves plans and budgets for church-wide programs.

A jurisdictional conference is a quadrennial meeting of clergy and lay delegates from the annual conferences within the boundaries of one of five U.S. jurisdictions: North Central, Northeastern, South Central, Southeastern and Western. Jurisdictional Conferences convene every four years. The business includes the election and assignment of bishops.

A regional conference in The United Methodist Church (UMC) is a newly created legislative body designed to empower global areas of the church to adapt their own rules, ministries, and doctrines. This structural shift, known as Regionalization, allows different geographic regions to establish their own policies without requiring worldwide uniformity.

The 2028 General Conference is scheduled to meet from May 8-16 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The 2028 Western Jurisdictional Conference is expected to meet the following July somewhere within the California-Nevada Annual Conference.
