By Rosalee Mohney, Seattle District Co-Lay Leader/Wildfires UMVIM Coordinator

You, your friends, your neighbors, and all your cousins are invited to this special and exciting event May 6th beginning at 7:00 pm! This is your opportunity to join with others and support the rebuilding of homes for survivors of the historic wildfires that devastated much of Okanogan County and parts of Chelan County during the summers of 2014 and 2015.

Here is a quick overview of what to expect on this exciting evening!

  • An exciting program of choral music is planned featuring the skills and talents of top-notch choirs: Samoan Choir from the Samoan Fellowship, Riverton Park UMC; Trinity UMC Choir; Kent UMC Choir and the Bellevue Praise Band.
  • The featured guest performer, John Nilsen, pianist, will be playing his unique variety of styles from jazz to hymn improvisations. John is well-known as he has played extensively throughout our Conference and the Pacific Northwest.

  • Key staff people from the Rebuild Project will be giving current information on the progress to date and what future needs are. Come meet them and other VIPS! Ask questions. Become informed.
  • Entrance to the program is by ticket purchase at the door for a suggested donation of $10.00 – and it is a suggested donation. No one will be turned away.
  • A free-will offering will be taken! This is a Fund Raiser!
  • And a very special note: This program will be signed by an ASL Interpreter. Please invite someone you know that would appreciate this service to attend this event.
  • And, more!

You may have seen or heard the phrase Let’s Go Help Some People! It has become a rallying cry for The Pacific Northwest Conference as we support the Rebuild: Up from the Ashes Project. To date, 30 homes have been completed; rebuild plans are in place for even more families needing a home; funding is needed for these additional homes. It is up to us as United Methodists to step up to the plate and help. In this time of Easter and the rebirth of spring, let us help give those who have survived so much, the opportunity of rebirth, also. There is much strength when we join together to help each other!

I hope to see you on May 6 at Bellevue First UMC (1934 108th Ave. NE, Bellevue, WA)! Free Parking. Refreshments following the program.

Together – Let’s Go Help Some People!
