The Pacific Northwest UMC Early Response Team and United Methodist Volunteer in Mission (UMVIM) members are teaming up August 16-21, 2017 to remove debris and ash for Pastor Laurie Sardinia whose Yelm, Wash. home was destroyed by fire in early February.

Most of Pastor Sardinia’s clothing, furniture, household items, jewelry and family keepsakes were lost in the fire. She also lost five pets. Along with the site cleanup and preparation for a new home, volunteers will be sifting through ashes to search for items that may be saved.

Your Early Response Team (ERT) and UMVIM skills are needed for this recovery effort. Come for one day’s work or all six. The small work site can accommodate up to 10 volunteers a day. Youth groups are encouraged to participate but all members must be 16 years or older. Training and safety briefings will be provided on site.

Ready to help? Please contact Kathy Bryson at pnwumcert@gmail.com or 509-539-2978 by Tuesday, August 1 with your available dates and any overnight requirements.

Kathy Bryson serves with The PNW United Methodists Volunteers in Mission as the coordinator for Early Response Teams.
