Peace with Justice Sunday

Peace with Justice Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the efforts made by United Methodists to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, welcome the stranger, and love their neighbor. What we say matters, and sharing the gospel with our voices helps us share the witness of our faith. Yet words alone cannot build a peaceable kingdom. Christ said, ‘Feed the hungry,’ not ‘Talk to the hungry about food!’

Peace with Justice is about doing the things we talk about. To live our faith through acts of mercy, kindness, and mission globally and here at home, we ask United Methodists around the world to help. Your financial contribution helps us meet the need for justice. Your gift helps us purchase the tools and equip people for ministry. Your help means we can train up leaders to uplift our world.

Peace with Justice Sunday is May 31, 2026. Review and download resources to assist your church in celebrating this Special Sunday.

PNW Board of Church & Society announces 2026 Peace with Justice grant, MLK award process

The Conference Board of Church and Society (CBCS) is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for Peace with Justice grants and nominations for our annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award.

The Peace with Justice Grants, supported each year on Peace with Justice Sunday by generous gifts from congregations throughout the conference, have been updated to more clearly emphasize the work of social justice. Each year, the Board awards several grants to local UMC congregations and not-for-profit organizations whose work aligns with our Social Principles.

Funding for this award is from donations on Peace with Justice Sunday, coordinated through the PNW Conference Board of Church and Society.

All applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. PT on March 13, 2026, for consideration. For additional information, contact dwright@pugetsound.edu.
