Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award. Grants support local churches and nonprofits advancing social justice in alignment with our Social Principles, funded through Peace with Justice Sunday offerings. Honor a justice leader through the MLK Award. Deadline: March 13, 2026 (11:59 p.m.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gnw-email.brtapp.com\/!wQjLoda120FEhbGkZnQDp7hAijSm44Z0MXB-lv815xWv92ogk2NTJsNsFFY+sptLw\">Learn more and apply on the PNW Conference website.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">October<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;Annual Gathering, Bothell UMC<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e0&nbsp;Participated in Panel Discussion and Q &amp; A Sessions on becoming a member of the United Women in Faith, and where love in action will take us in the coming years<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e0&nbsp;Inducted into the Executive Team as Social Action Coordinator<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;Attended a local Seattle Education Association (SEA union) meeting at Beacon Hill Library to support plans for Know Your Rights Training, coordinating efforts for ICE out of our schools campaigns<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">November <strong><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Attended Conference Board of Church &amp; Society (virtual) Meeting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Collected Medical Supplies for Disaster Relief following Typhoon Uwan (Fung-wang) devastation in the Philippines<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beacon UMC Community Feeding (after Thanksgiving)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>partnered with local community grassroots organizations in Beacon Hill to provide food, water, and hand warmers, and visited with unhoused populations on Beacon Hill, Seattle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooked and packaged food (200 meals) was also brought to the Union Gospel Mission<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Distributed 100 meals to people in the parks and those living in their vehicles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Attended the Faith Action Network Gala<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participated in Ecumenical Community fundraising \u201cBayanihan Disaster Relief concert\u201d to support NAFCON Medical Mission to the Philippines<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Took part in meetings with Beacon Hill community leaders to establish plans for keeping ICE out of Beacon Hill<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">December <strong><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Tanngol Migrante Vigil @ Northwest Detention Center to protest medical neglect of detainees<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participated of Tanggol Migrante Movement, which successfully intervened at SeaTac Airport to prevent the deportation of a medically fragile detainee<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participated in newly formed Fighters with Faith, an ecumenical group of faith leaders (lay and pastors) bringing attention to human rights violations in the NWDC, organizing to conduct visitations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shared two Faith Talks\/Reflections &#8211; delivered as part of the Crossroads Ministry service at Beacon UMC, and on one online vespers service. The focus has been on distinguishing between acts of mercy and acts of justice, and on what it may look like to work toward justice as modeled by Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Help coordinate the Blue Christmas Worship Service, participated in by local community members who have experienced loss, separation, and unjust treatment, acknowledging that people are suffering, remembering the life of loved ones lost, and leaning on the community for God\u2019s love and hope. We celebrated the dignity and value of every member of our community. (This service was based on the memorial service we had at the annual gathering.
