Marysville UMC: P/T Admin Assistant

Marysville United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time office administrative assistant to begin June 1, 2023. The position will support pastors, program staff, and lay leaders and will report to the lead pastor.

The Office Administrative Assistant is responsible for overseeing the office functions of Marysville United Methodist Church. This position works with church members, community and staff to achieve the objects of our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Essential Job Functions:

• Support the mission of the church as it relates to the position.
• Supports pastors, program staff & lay leaders with administrative needs.
• Answer phones and assist walk-in visitors as needed.
• Recruit and work with current office volunteers.
• Production of print communications including Sunday bulletin(s), Connect Newsletter, flyers, bathroom stalls info, prayer requests, announcements, etc. With potential of adding digital communications in the future.
• Maintain a variety of records, including Breeze membership database, attendance, and visitor records.
• Compile our Pacific Northwest Charge Conference and Annual conference reports, including compiling information from staff, committee leaders, and ministry chairs, typing and production.
• Keep office and work area tidy and organized; file records, bulletins, office supply closet and cabinets Keep computer files organized, backed up.
• Attend church staff meetings, including taking and distributing minutes when needed.
• Order and maintain office supplies and worship supplies as requested by the Pastors or worship team
• Maintain church calendar in collaboration with Director of Facilities & Programming.
• Collecting all mail and dispersing to appropriate staff members
• Maintain tidiness of Narthex and Counter outside of the office.
• Interfaces with vendors if Director of Facilities is not available
• Maintain Community Resource information. (Food bank, clothing, rent assistance resources)

Qualifications:

Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out the assignment, including two (2) years of clerical/office experience or a related two- year degree.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to work and interact with a wide variety of people.
• Excellent computer skills, including word processing. Experience with desktop publishing desirable.
• Willingness to learn church software.
• Proven excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain focus despite frequent interruptions.
• Public relation skills and excellent telephone etiquette.
• Organizational, time management, record keeping, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with volunteers and be sensitive to their needs.
• Be an active part of the church staff team.

Hours:

This is a part-time hourly position that is authorized for 15 hours/week, from 10-3 Tuesday through Thursday. This position starts at $20/hour and offers sick leave.
