Bothell UMC: F/T Director of Operations
Description: Manage administrative operations for Bothell United Methodist Church and develop future operational strategy in collaboration with the lead pastor.
Responsibilities:
Supervise workings of the finance office including:
- Gather information in preparation for annual budget development
- Develop draft budget in collaboration with lead pastor
- Read, analyze, and summarize financial monthly reports in collaboration with the Treasurer
- Attend finance meetings and brief lead pastor
- Supervise Bookkeeper and Financial Secretary
Oversee overall office administration including:
- Supervise administrative personnel and services (e.g. office manager, internet, and phone services)
- Oversee the gathering of materials for, and creation of, written communication deliverables (e.g., Witness, programs, signage, website, etc.)
- Ensure that year-end reporting is completed accurately and on time
- Collect topics, create agenda, and facilitate staff meetings
- Manage staff training (onboarding, retaining, and continuing education)
Liaise with trustees on all facility improvements or repairs:
- Oversee significant facility projects and spending
- Supervise facility personnel and services (e.g., custodial services)
- Establish or maintain contracts including for tenants, facilities, and administrative services
- Identify areas for improvement, propose solutions, and lead implementation efforts gaps and propose solutions with regard to office administration, communication, and other areas related to business of the church
- Attend pertinent church leadership meetings Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understand and commit to the vision of the United Methodist Church and of Bothell United Methodist Church
- Exude friendly, professional, and approachable demeanor
- Two years of personnel managerial experience
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Enthusiastic approach to problem solving; ability to help generate novel solutions
- Reliable and consistent follow through
- Experience as a people manager
- Ability to delegate for optimal efficiency
- Experience facilitating or interest in learning facilitation techniques
- Manage new or unknown processes (able to ask the right questions)
- Experience managing projects or programs
