SUMMARY:Safety Advocate Webinar May 2021
DESCRIPTION:Conference staff will be offering an updated version of the Safety Advocate webinars for individuals who are interested in becoming a Safety Advocate for their church\, or in getting re-certified for this important role. This United Methodist youth retreat is a fantastic opportunity to connect with friends new and old from across the Pacific Northwest!\n\nOur theme this year is The Journey. Our speaker\, Rev. Dr. Leroy Barber\, a member of the Greater Northwest Area Innovation Vitality Team\, will help us explore how we navigate the great journey of life especially as we work through times of uncertainty and trouble. We will explore how God’s love and faith keep us steadfast and give us hope even during the storms and trials of life. \nEvery year\, Convo is planned by an excellent team of youth and supportive adults who have a passion and dedication to making this the best event it can be; this year is no exception. We’ve been hosting this “Bishop’s Youth Convocation” for over 40 years and we are praying for a weekend where both youth and adults are equipped and recharged to live as passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. \nConvo Dance theme this year is THROWBACK! Whether it’s suits and ties of the 1920s or the vibrant workout fits of the 80s\, everyone has their favorite retro style. Throwback and represent your favorite decades at this fun\, time-warp of a dance. \nWho Can Go?\nConvo is for youth currently in grades 6 – 12 and their adult leaders. We ask churches to send one adult\, who has completed a national background check\, to accompany every 1- 6 youth of each gender. We will try to accommodate youth in cases where this isn’t possible. Cost is $175 for all retreat participants both youth and adults. We do offer a discount to those who are leading workshops or small groups. If you are leading a workshop or small group and you do not have your discount code please contact Teri. We offer scholarships\, for those in financial need\, to help to make this retreat possible for all. \nRegistration\nConvo registration is online. Each youth and adult registering must fill out an online registration form. Youth Leaders can choose to register their entire group at once (contact Teri for details and a registration form).  \nRegistration will close at 11:59PM PST May 9th\, 2019. \n  \nCLICK HERE to register today!\n  \nHelpful Files\nConvo Poster \nConvo Banner or Facebook Cover Photo \nConvo Quarter page flyers \nCONVO_Scholarship_Form \nWorkshop Flyer 2019 \nMore about our Speaker \nLeroy Barber has dedicated 30 years to eradicating poverty\, confronting homelessness\, restoring local neighborhoods\, healing racism\, and living what Dr. King called “the beloved community.” \nLeroy starts projects that shape society; in 1989\, burdened by the plight of Philadelphia’s homeless\, he and his wife Donna founded Restoration Ministries\, to serve homeless families and children living on the streets. SUMMARY:CONVO 2017
DESCRIPTION:Over Memorial Day weekend\, hundreds of Youth (grades 6-12) and adult youth workers will gather at the University of Puget Sound for CONVO\, three days of worship\, fun\, and learning. This United Methodist youth retreat is a fantastic opportunity to connect with friends new and old from across the Pacific Northwest!\n\nThis year’s theme is “BOLDLY GO and make a difference.” Our speaker\, Chelsea Spyres will lead us in exploring how we can be the change we want to see: in ourselves\, our church\, our families\, and in our communities. You can read more about Chelsea below. \nWe hope you will join us in boldly going to CONVO on May 27-29! \nWho Can Go?\nCONVO is for youth currently in grades 6 – 12 and their adult leaders (sorry\, no mature 5th graders). We ask churches to send one adult\, who has completed a national background check\, to accompany every 1- 6 youth of each gender. We will try to accommodate youth in cases where this isn’t possible. We offer scholarships\, for those in financial need\, to help to make this retreat possible for all. \nRegistration\nCONVO registration is online. Each youth and adult registering must fill out an online registration form. If you have difficulties with the registration process\, please contact us and we’d be happy to help! \nYour registration fee includes your lodging as well as food from dinner Saturday through breakfast on Monday. \nRegistration will close at 9PM PST May 10th\, 2017.\nDue to website issues earlier this week we are leaving registration open until Friday morning May 12th 8AM. \nCLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER
