DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Crest to Coast Missional District of the PNW Conference of the UMCc \nSaturday\, April 30th 10:00am – 11:30am Pacific \nFor Pastors\, professional staff\, and lay leaders in the PNW Conference\, Columbia District and Cascadia District\, \nIn this virtual\, 90-minute training\, participants will learn how prevalent suicide is\, indicators of risk\, how to ask if a person is thinking about suicide and available resources to help those at risk. This is an introductory training appropriate for church leaders who are interested in creating networks of support for those affected by suicidal desperation in their church and their communities. \nSoul Shop’s mission is to equip faith communities to save lives and to bring hope to those affected by suicidal desperation. Soul Shop’s mission is to be the national leader in developing faith communities that companion those impacted by suicide into hope and connection. DESCRIPTION:In 2017 the Oregon-Idaho and Pacific Northwest Conferences of The United Methodist Church will meet together in a shared annual conference session June 14 – 17\, 2017 at the Red Lion on the River – Jantzen Beach in Portland\, Oregon. \nThe shared session will begin with the installation of Bishop Elaine J.W. Stanovsky as the presiding bishop of the Greater Northwest Episcopal Area at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday\, June 14\, 2017. Representatives from the Alaska Conference will also join their southern neighbors for the installation. \nThe conferences will meet through the session in both shared and individual plenary meetings as well as sharing worship\, laity meetings\, workshops and mission experiences.
