{"id":19466,"date":"2019-03-11T17:17:48","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T00:17:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pnwumc.org\/news\/?p=19466"},"modified":"2019-03-11T17:17:55","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T00:17:55","slug":"can-you-imagine-being-separated-from-your-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pnwumc.org\/news\/can-you-imagine-being-separated-from-your-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Can you Imagine being separated from your family?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By Libby Marie Hall<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you remember that early 70s song <em class=\"\">Imagine?<\/em> Please take a moment and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YkgkThdzX-8\">listen<\/a> to this song from John Lennon.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This song has words\u2014<em>Imagine <\/em><g class=\"gr_ gr_15 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Grammar multiReplace\" id=\"15\" data-gr-id=\"15\"><em class=\"\">there\u2019s<\/em><\/g><em> no countries<\/em>\u2014I would like us to take a moment to ponder. Imagine for a moment how we would feel if our own children were ripped from our arms and put into cages like animals.&nbsp;I, for one, believe that God would not want us treating each other this way. It reminds me of that saying, &#8220;Do unto others as you would have done unto yourself.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>America has lots of rules about immigration and I believe that we should be proactively educating people that are wanting to come to America on how to come here legally and honorably.&nbsp;Immigration laws in America are not the easiest to navigate. Helping people to understand the process of entry, and making that process clear and more just, also supports others that are taking proper and legal paths to citizenship.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Church, we should be working together with people to prevent violence and inhumane treatment at the border, and advocating to keep families together no matter what.&nbsp;As the 22nd chapter of the Gospel of Matthew relates to us: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">And Jesus said to him, \u201cYou shall&nbsp;<strong>love<\/strong>&nbsp;the Lord&nbsp;<strong>your<\/strong>&nbsp;God with all&nbsp;<strong>your<\/strong>&nbsp;heart and with all <strong>your<\/strong>&nbsp;soul and with all&nbsp;<strong>your<\/strong>&nbsp;mind. This is the great and first commandment.
