With the first UMEIT (United Methodist Ecumenical and Interreligious Training<\/a>)<\/em>: Young Adult Network training coming to an end, it is time for a new cohort of young adults to be selected for the second round. UMEIT: YAN is an intensive two-year training for United Methodist young adults, aged 24-35 from all over the world. They commit to a two-hour video conference training every month for two years, to meeting annually face-to-face, and to creating an ecumenical or interreligious ministry project or network in their context.<\/p>\n

Some of the projects from the first cohort included: a website designed for young adults to have open conversations about ecumenism and interreligious engagement, a training for young adults in the Democratic Republic of Congo to talk about anti-tribalism and Christian unity, and a new young adult ministerial group in the mountains of North Carolina, designed for very diverse new pastors to get to know each other and spend time in fellowship and prayer.<\/p>\n

In the best-case scenario, bishops would encourage particular young adults from their annual conferences to apply for this next round. Ten to 12 finalists will be chosen to take the journey together.<\/p>\n
