On Saturday, January 20, 2018<\/strong><\/span>, over 50 people<\/span><\/strong> from 15 congregations<\/strong><\/span> and 5 different denominations<\/strong><\/span> gathered at Bremerton United Methodist Church<\/strong><\/span><\/a> for Connecting Neighbors<\/strong><\/span> emergency preparedness training.<\/p>\n

Led by Becky Platt<\/strong><\/span> of The Oregon-Idaho Conference<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and Wendy Riddle<\/strong><\/span> of The Pacific Northwest Conference<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, attendees completed several modules (Overview, Ready Families, Ready Churches and Ready Response)<\/strong><\/span> to help serve neighbors during a time of a natural disaster.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe vast majority of feedback was positive,\u201d<\/strong><\/span> shares Riddle. \u201cThe class took almost nine hours\u2026the table groups mostly worked well together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with sharing rich information, the goal of this training was to inspire \u201ccongregations and communities to be better able to minimize disaster-caused harm to people and property.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A soup lunch was provided with the Rev. John Weston<\/strong><\/span> providing fresh bread with the gracious hosts of Bremerton\u2019s United Methodist Women<\/strong><\/span> providing sandwiches, desserts and beverages.<\/p>\n
