{"id":17116,"date":"2018-01-25T14:04:46","date_gmt":"2018-01-25T22:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pnwumc.org\/news\/?p=17116"},"modified":"2018-01-25T14:04:46","modified_gmt":"2018-01-25T22:04:46","slug":"umc-organizations-to-be-listed-on-guidestar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pnwumc.org\/news\/umc-organizations-to-be-listed-on-guidestar\/","title":{"rendered":"UMC Organizations to Be Listed on Guidestar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Nashville, TN<\/em> \u2013 The Legal Services Department of the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) is announcing that in response to the many calls they receive about having United Methodist churches recognized on national donor platforms, local churches and United Methodist organizations covered under the United Methodist group ruling can now be listed on Guidestar<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> through the <a href=\"http:\/\/umgroupruling.org\/(S(4muoyzogzg103tzi0bmhkvkz))\/Content\/Pages\/EINPage.aspx\">UMgroupruling.org<\/a> website.\u00a0Steve Lambert, General Counsel of GCFA, said \u201cthis move responds to requests from local churches to be listed as a charitable organization on a platform recognized by donors as reliable.\u00a0 We are happy to provide this solution to what has been a continuing issue for UMC organizations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guidestar<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> is the respected database of information about nonprofits. Once listed on Guidestar<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, United Methodist churches and organizations will have a way to demonstrate their 501(c)(3) status electronically, which will also be available to Guidestar<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> partners.
