Learn more about this image: bit.ly\/2dXdbzP<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In response to the Hurricane Matthew relief efforts, we have connected with the North Carolina Disaster Response Center and are coordinating an Early Response Team mission from The Pacific Northwest and Oregon-Idaho Conferences to the Outer Banks area of <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/darecountyem.com\" target=\"_blank\">Dare County in North Carolina<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on Nov. 8-15.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>CURRENT\u00a0PLAN<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The current plan is that ERT members will fly into Norfolk, Va., pick up rental transportation then to drive to the base camp and work sites. Workdays are tentatively <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Wednesday, Nov. 9<\/strong><\/span> through <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Monday, Nov. 14 <\/strong><\/span><em>(with travel days on <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Nov. 8<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>15<\/strong><\/span>)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/nccumc.org\/outreach\/disaster-response\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>North Carolina Disaster Response Center<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>has set up tool trailers at the work sites with tools for mucking, tear-out and spraying.<\/p>\n<p>Housing will be in a local firehouse that has sleeping facilities, a kitchen for meal preparation and shower facilities. There are local grocery stores and some restaurants for meal options. The local coordinator mentioned this area is rich in history and there is a great need for relief support.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">EXPENSES<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The anticipated expenses for this mission are round trip airfares into Norfolk, Va. plus sharing the costs of rental car(s) &amp; insurance, gas, and all meals\/food. We\u2019re working on the possibility of partial scholarships to offset some of these expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Airfares are currently low into Norfolk so we are quickly gauging interest for this deployment. Please respond by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #993300;\"><strong>3:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28<\/strong><\/span> to <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"mailto:ERT@pnwumc.org\" target=\"_blank\">ERT@pnwumc.org<\/a><\/strong><\/span> if you are interested and available for this much-needed relief effort.
