Shane Moore<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\">Every morning I wake up at 6am to catch the Max Line at 6:30am.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>If you know me in any way you probably know I\u2019m not a morning person.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>On a typically day, 8am is early for me to wake up.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>So you can imagine that I\u2019m not very friendly in the morning.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>But while I may not be friendly, the people of Portland are.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Every morning the TriMet people greet me with a smile and offer me card for a free coffee and donut.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>As I get to the convention center the security staff greets me by name and asks me how my morning is.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Now I do have a name tag on but to be honest even with a name tag I don\u2019t know if I would greet people by name.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Everyone from staff, police officers and citizens have\u00a0been extremely friendly.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>And I\u2019m not the only person to recognize what effect this has had on our experience in this great city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Sometimes it is easy to forget the role of hospitality.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Especially when everyone is part of the tribe we call United Methodist.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>We forget the impact of the simple things.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>The joy it brings when someone smiles at you.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>The way your outlook can change when someone takes the few seconds to greet you by name.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>As stressful as General Conference can be, the hospitality shown by the City of Portland has made all the difference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">Rev.
