Rev. Tom Slate was recognized while visiting this year's PNW Annual Conference Session held in Puyallup. We understand that he rode his bicycle over to the event.

The Rev. Tom Slate, retired clergy and beloved part of the Puyallup United Methodist Church community, is being celebrated by the congregation and the community in honor of his 100th birthday, at noon on Saturday August 4th at the church. Tom is in worship Sunday by Sunday, participates in book studies, and this summer was a storyteller for Puyallup UMC’s Vacation Bible School. His intellectual prowess is undiminished!

This is an invitation to clergy and laity who remember Tom to join in the celebration or to send him a note of appreciation and congratulations in care of Puyallup UMC, 1919 W. Pioneer Avenue, Puyallup, WA 98371.

Editor’s Note: Rev. Slate was ordained in 1945 as a member of the Pacific Northwest Conference of the Methodist Church, which later merged with the Evangelical United Brethren to form The United Methodist Church in 1968. In the PNW, Slate served Methodist and United Methodist Churches in Mount Vernon (Grace), Tracyton, Anatone, Eatonville, and Morton from which he retired in 1981.
