At its core, Methodism is a missional movement. Two-hundred years ago, the Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church (a forerunner of The United Methodist Church) began when a most unlikely missionary was compelled to serve. Today, the denomination celebrates the thousands of missionaries who have stepped out in faith and uncertainty to share the Gospel and the many United Methodists who faithfully support them.
