Colorado is ready for Early Response Teams
By Jim Truitt

The Rocky Mountain Conference has officially invited all Jurisdictions to send ERTs to Colorado to help with their recovery from the recent floods. They have arranged housing and job assignments for multiple concurrent teams.

I am currently in Colorado working with the Rocky Mountain Conference helping them set up their volunteer management process. I have toured a couple of the flood sites and it is as bad as or worse than Hurricane Sandy.

There are other teams here: Southern Baptist, Team Rubicon, Samaritan’s Purse, and World Renew, but there’s plenty of work to do. Some of the areas are just now being opened so volunteers can get access. The easily accessed areas have been or are being well taken care of. So, we have decided that the teams from the Western Jurisdiction should not bring their trailers but load their tools and equipment on pickup trucks, preferably 4 X 4s if possible.

The roads to these outlying areas are pretty heavily damaged and will only get minimal repair this winter. Navigating a trailer over them will be difficult. Plus they are forecasting the first snow of the season tonight.

Please prayerfully consider giving your time and talents to help our neighbors recover. Let me know as soon as possible when you would be available in the next 30 days.

Blessings to you all,
Jim
