First United Methodist Church in Olympia (with the Tacoma District) is sponsoring a day long workshop with Tex Sample on November 5. The event is called “Being Church: Finding the Common Good.” In addition to two keynote addresses from Dr. Sample based on his most recent book, we will have a series of supplemental workshops  designed to share skills and visions for making the local church a more just and inclusive body. The cost will be $25 per person with group discounts for teams from local churches. Lunch will  be included. The program will run from 9:30 am to 5 pm (tentatively).

Contact Peter Perry for more information at pastorpeter@fumcoly.org, 360-943-2661. The event will take place at First Olympia, address below.

Tex Sample is a specialist in church and society, a storyteller, author, and the Robert B. and Kathleen Rogers Professor Emeritus of Church and Society at the St. Paul School of Theology, a United Methodist seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, where he taught from 1967–1999.
