Puget Sound Chrysalis Planning Meeting
September 13, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
For the past few years the Puget Sound Chrysalis has been in a cocoon. It was necessary to take a little break, but recently it has become clear that God is ready for us to emerge from our cocoon and begin again with this vital ministry for high school youth and young adults. In order to do so we need your help! In a sense, we are starting over; we do not have a board so we will have Upper Room representatives help us in the training and forming of our community. That said, we are blessed because we are not truly starting from scratch because we still have many supporters in our Puget Sound area.
We have two meetings planned to aid in the reforming of our community and have a goal of providing a Chrysalis weekend in the summer of 2015. The first meeting is on September 13th from 9 am to 12 pm at Des Moines United Methodist Church. The purpose of this meeting is to strategize how we can connect more people to this ministry, incorporate the support of our Emmaus community, and brainstorm/form some committees. The second meeting is on Nov. 1st from 9 am to 3:30 pm, location Mason United Methodist, in Tacoma. We will have 2 regional trainers joining us for this meeting to help teach, reteach, and remind us about all the good things that come from Chrysalis and how the Upper Room can and will be helpful and supportive as we go forward. Plan to bring a sack lunch to this meeting.
Please put these dates on your calendar now and share them with your Emmaus/Chrysalis/Kairos friends. Who should plan to attend? Anyone who has experienced an Emmaus or Chrysalis weekend and wants to support the young people in our communities. By attending the meetings you are not committing to working on a team (although we will be thrilled if you would like to serve on a weekend), you are simply expressing a desire to learn more about this ministry and how you and your faith community can help support Chrysalis. It is crucial we have 75 people at the 2nd meeting. If you can only attend one, please plan for the meeting in November. If we do not have adequate support we will not be able to move forward at this time and will remain in a time of prayer and discernment.
Please email Molly Ford if you would like to be on our contact list for future communications. In the email, please let us know which meeting(s) you can attend. Feel free to note if there are particular ways you would like to be involved (prayer team, serving on the board, working a weekend, sponsoring, making agape, etc).
Thank you for holding Chrysalis in prayer.
