Certified Lay Ministry: Introduction to Ministry Overview
October 7, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - October 9, 2016 @ 4:00 pm
The Certified Lay Minister (CLM) program is a two-year training cycle that includes a Ministry Overview and four intermediate courses. Its course offerings are available for all lay persons within the United Methodist Church. However, those interested in pursuing CLM designation must follow the process outlined by your District Committee on Ministry in conjunction with paragraph 271 of the 2012 Book of Discipline. Upon completion of specialized training, these individuals are recognized and utilized to enhance the quality of ministry to small-membership churches and team ministries in churches. The Rev. David Nieda is the CLM Academic Dean and Vancouver District Superintendent of this program.
This Introduction to Ministry will be a basic overview of the tasks of pastoral ministry leadership including Wesleyan theology, preaching, and administering the local church and pastoral care. Participants are asked to prepare a seven to ten minute sermon/message in advance for this course.
