Certified Lay Minister Training – Intro to Ministry Overview
September 18, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - September 20, 2015 @ 3:00 pm$100
The Certified Lay Minister is a UMC recognized category of those lay persons who have been trained (or are being trained) and credentialed by the Annual Conference to serve our local churches in a more intentional leadership role. In the Greater Northwest Episcopal area, many CLMs are assigned as lay ministers in small/rural membership churches and still others are assigned to their own home churches and take on increased responsibility in assisting the appointed pastors.
The CLM Introduction to Ministry Overview is a required course for those lay persons wishing to pursue CLM certification. Additionally, this course is open and available to laity who are interested in expanding their knowledge base, but may not be pursuing CLM certification. (Questions regarding the CLM Certification process can be directed to the Rev. David Nieda, CLM Academic Dean at Vancouver@pnwumc.org.)
This year’s Introduction to Ministry Overview course features Bishop Grant Hagiya and many members from both the Oregon-Idaho and Pacific Northwest Cabinets, who will teach on the practical aspects of theology and ministry, as well as pastoral care and administering the local church.
Event begins 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18
Event ends 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20
Event Location: Red Lion Hotel Portland Airport
