Certified Lay Minister – Cycle A: Intermediate Preaching

March 7, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Certified Lay Minister (CLM) program is a two-year training cycle that includes an introduction to Ministry Overview course and four intermediate courses.  This program is available for all lay persons within the United Methodist Church.  However, those interested in pursuing CLM designation must follow the process outlined by your District Committee on Ministry in conjunction with paragraph 271 of the 2013 Book of Discipline. Upon completion of specialized training, these individuals are recognized and utilized to enhance the quality of ministry to small-membership churches and team ministries in churches.

The Tuell Center for Ministry Excellence is the CLM program sponsor and coordinator for all three conferences.  The Rev. David Nieda, District Superintendent of the PNW Vancouver District is the CLM Academic Dean.

We are pleased to announce the trainings currently available for registration include CLM Cycle A (both West and East locations): Intermediate Preaching.  The course Instructor is Rev. Dale L. Cockrum, Inland District Superintendent.

This one-day workshop explores the purpose of preaching and the processes of planning, exegesis, sermon development and delivery that are necessary for relevant and passionate preaching. Participants will prepare with advance reading and by writing a sermon for presentation during the day.  To learn more about this training, click on one of the links below.
