SUMMARY:Pacific Northwest Special Called Session
DESCRIPTION:Online only\, with GNTV voting support. More details TBA. \nThe sole purpose of this Special Session is to affirm or not affirm the church conference actions of local churches that are choosing to ask to disaffiliate from The United Methodist Church under the provisions of The Book of Discipline 2016\, Paragraph 2553. The Board of Trustees will present negotiated settlements that cannot be amended. The members of Annual Conference will affirm or not affirm the agreements by a simple majority vote. \nThe Special Session will be held on Zoom and will require registration for voting credentials. Registration and further information regarding the session and its business will be sent to the persons to be seated at the special session of the Annual Conference and posted on the conference website by April 15\, 2023. \nThe voting membership of the special session will consist of the clergy members of the annual conference as defined in ¶32 of the Book of Discipline and the lay members of the June 2022 Annual Conference (lay member or alternate\, whoever was last seated in the June annual conference) in accordance with the Book of Discipline ¶602.5.1 \n1 No local charge will be deprived of its lay member due to death\, serious illness\, or cessation of membership. Under such circumstances\, another lay member may be elected by the charge conference (¶602.5). If your charge is affected\, please contact Rev. Shirley DeLarme\, the Conference Secretary.

SUMMARY:Housing 101 Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Can We Affect the Housing Problem? \nThe lack of affordable housing throughout the country is well documented. But what\, if anything\, can churches do to make a difference? If you want to be a part of the affordable housing solution but don’t know where to start or what to do\, you are invited to a workshop entitled “Housing 101” on May 10 from 1-3 pm PST on Zoom. This invitation is to the entire Greater Northwest Episcopal Area. \nThis workshop is being hosted by Wesley UMC in Yakima and led by Pastor Shane Moore and Marty Miller. Marty Miller is the executive director of the Office of Rural and Farmworker Housing (ORFH) in Yakima. Marty has been with ORFH for over 20 years and brings wide expertise on the issues of affordable housing. While Marty is with ORFH\, he is coming to this presentation as a long-term member of Wesley UMC and someone with a passion for solving the housing crisis through grassroots work in local communities. \nJoin us on May 10th from 1-3 pm PST on Zoom to learn more about housing and the difference you and your faith community can make to solve this problem. \nClick here for more information or to register.
