DESCRIPTION:Cheney\, Washington — Messy Church USA in cooperation with Cheney United Methodist Church is offering a regional Conference event on the best practices to use in starting your own Messy Church. The Getting Started With Messy Church conference will be held at Cheney United Methodist Church\, 204 4th Street\, Cheney\, WA 99004\, on Saturday\, October 5\, 2019\, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. \nThis training will give your team the vital tools to begin your own Messy Church. You will learn about the history\, values\, format and best practices to get your Messy Church started. If you’ve already begun Messy church\, this is an opportunity to share best practices and gain new ideas for sustaining your Messy Church in your local setting. This training is open to all denominations of the Christian Church \nMessy Church is a monthly intergenerational worship experience that explores God’s love in an accessible way. At Messy Church today’s busy households of all shapes and sizes are invited into a welcoming space to experience faith. Everyone is welcomed as they are. SUMMARY:Connecting Neighbors Training
DESCRIPTION:This emergency preparedness training through UMCOR has three areas of focus – personal and home readiness\, church readiness\, and readiness to serve your neighbors in case of an emergency. This workshop is being taught by Wendy Riddle and David C. Riddle. \nLunch will be provided. \nDisaster Ready Congregations \nThis workshop has the goal of inspiring congregations and communities to be better able to minimize disaster-caused harm to people and property and to respond to our neighbors in helpful\, cooperative and caring ways on behalf of the church and in the spirit of Jesus Christ. \nThis workshop incorporates knowledge and experience gleaned over many years by dedicated volunteers who have served their neighbors on behalf of the church. Rich information has also been included from other organizations and community partners – most notably the American Red Cross\, National Disaster Interfaith Network\, and FEMA. UMCOR is grateful to these partners for providing public access to helpful resources. \nOnline pre-registration is required. A $10 workshop fee includes all materials\, snacks and lunch.
