SUMMARY:PNW Gathering of the Orders and Fellowships
DESCRIPTION:The Gathering of the Orders and Fellowships will be September 27-29\, 2023\, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Yakima\, Washington. We will be welcoming deaconesses and home missioners to the gathering for the first time. Check-in for the gathering opens at noon on Sept. 27\, with our opening session beginning at 2 p.m. The gathering will conclude with lunch on the 29th. A more thorough agenda will be forthcoming. \nThe keynote presenter will be Rev. Janet Wolf\, of whom you can read more below. Please register ASAP. Direct any questions to Rev. Katie M. You can register to receive the livestream. However\, for those who can\, attending in person is what we strongly recommend. \nAbout our Keynote\nThe Rev. Janet Wolf is an elder in The United Methodist Church and has served as a pastor of rural and urban congregations. She is a college and seminary professor\, community mediator\, learner\, and partner for transformative justice. \nIn July 2012\, she was appointed to work with Marian Wright Edelman and the Children’s Defense Fund on nonviolent direct-action organizing to dismantle the cradle-to-prison pipeline\, work that includes the organization’s Freedom Schools and the annual Proctor Institute for Child Advocacy Ministry. She is the author of “To See and To Be Seen\,” a chapter in I Was in Prison: United Methodist Perspectives on Prison Ministry\, edited by James M. Shopshire Sr.\, et al.\, and numerous other writings. She is the author of the book Practicing Resurrection: The Gospel of Mark and Radical Discipleship.

DESCRIPTION:Women of the SeaTac District\, please join us for our UWF annual meeting on September 30 at Kent UMC. Our theme for the day is “For the Beauty of the Earth\,” and our keynote speaker is the Rev. Laura Baumgartner sharing about Earth Ministry. \nRegistration is $12 and can be completed using this form. \n  \nThe schedule for the day is: \n8:30-9:00 AM – Continental Breakfast \n9:00-11:45 AM – Program & Meeting \n12:00-1:00 PM – Soup Luncheon \n  \nAbout our Keynote Speaker: Rev. Laura Baumgartner\nRev. Laura Baumgartner is the Pastor at Haller Lake United Methodist Church in Seattle and serves as the Board Chair of Earth Ministry Washington Interfaith Power and Light. Laura first worked with Earth Ministry/WAIPL as an intern during her seminary program and has been part of faith-based environmental efforts ever since. She has an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology\, a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology\, and Master’s of Divinity from Seattle University. Laura is married to her husband\, Eric\, and they have a college-aged daughter\, Grace\, and a very fluffy dog\, Calvin. She loves to walk\, swim\, read\, and bake.
