DESCRIPTION:Whether your church is a clear opening that’s expecting a new pastor on July 1\, 2026\, or you’re just curious about the seemingly mysterious appointment process that the cabinet uses\, SPRC leaders from every church are invited to learn more about it. Columbia and Sage districts in the Oregon-Idaho Conference ran a pilot version of this webinar in January 2025. It was so helpful to participants that we are using it throughout Oregon-Idaho and the Pacific Northwest Conferences this coming January. \nWho: Members of the SPRC (Staff Parish Relations Committee or equivalent leaders at churches with a single board structure) are invited to this webinar. Churches that have clear openings (due to receive a new pastor on July 1\, 2026) are expected to have at least two SPRC members who participate in these sessions. If you believe your pastor’s appointment may change\, attending would be an excellent and proactive step. \nWhat: A 90-minute Zoom meeting with superintendents who will describe the appointment process\, including the roles of the superintendent\, SPRC chair\, SPRC members\, and the new pastor. \nWhen/Where: The same information is being offered at two different times; you can choose which fits your schedule.  *Zoom links will be emailed to Churches and SPRC chairs in January. \n\nTuesday\, Jan. 13\, 6:30 p.m. PT / 7:30 p.m. MT\nSaturday\, Jan. 24\, 9 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. MT\n\nWhy: Since most churches don’t regularly participate in the appointment process\, it’s normal to have many questions. She holds in MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars\, and is author of several volumes of poetry\, among them Crossing the Sea and Texts to the Holy. She teaches at the intersection of creative life and spiritual life. She serves Congregation Beth Israel of the Berkshires\, and lives in western Massachusetts with her son. \nEMBRACING HOPELESSNESS: LAMENT\, CRITIQUE\, & ESPERANZA\nPresenter Juan Carlos Huertas is committed to practices that move communities to liberation through shared wisdom\, communal leadership\, and contextual action. Juan Carlos is a follower of Jesus\, husband\, father\, spiritual director\, and Minister of Proclamation and Practice of Justice at First-Plymouth CongregationalChurch in Lincoln\, NE. He holds a Master of Divinity from Emory University\, and a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana College in Pineville\, LA where he majored in Religion and minored in Spanish—his first language growing up in San Juan\, Puerto Rico. \nFor those who hunger for deep spiritual experience. SUMMARY:S.L.A.M. Trip GNW Youth Collaborative week
DESCRIPTION:S.L.A.M. Trips is a service and cultural learning trip for youth hosted by the Yakama faith-based organization Mending Wings. This GNW Youth Collaborative week will bring United Methodist youth from WA\, OR\, ID\, and AK together to learn about Native America culture; this year\, the Yakama value of RESPECT will be the theme. Participants will also learn about the injustices the Yakama people have experienced from the U.S. Government and the Church over the years. Youth and adult leaders will spend 2½ days on service projects for native elders\, and one day touring important cultural and historical sites\, with an evening cultural celebration including music\, dance\, and a traditional Salmon Bake. \nClick here to visit a page with information for the 2026 GNW S.L.A.M.
