SUMMARY:Convo 2018
DESCRIPTION:Over Memorial Day weekend\, hundreds of Youth (grades 6-12) and adult youth workers will gather at the University of Puget Sound for Convo\, three days of worship\, fun\, and learning. This United Methodist youth retreat is a fantastic opportunity to connect with friends new and old from across the Pacific Northwest!\n\nOur theme this year is Instruments of Peace.  Our speaker\, Rev. Hannah Adair Bonner will lead us in learning more about becoming an Instrument of Peace. We will be exploring tools to help us learn how to be a better participant in difficult conversations.\n \nEvery year\, Convo is planned by an excellent team of youth and supportive adults who have a passion and dedication to making this the best event it can be; this year is no exception. We’ve been hosting this “Bishop’s Youth Convocation” for over 40 years and we are praying for a weekend where both youth and adults are equipped and recharged to live as passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. \nWho Can Go?\nConvo is for youth currently in grades 6 – 12 and their adult leaders. We ask churches to send one adult\, who has completed a national background check\, to accompany every 1- 6 youth of each gender. We will try to accommodate youth in cases where this isn’t possible. Cost is $175 for all retreat participants both youth and adults. We do offer a discount to those who are leading workshops or small groups. If you are leading a workshop or small group and you do not have your discount code please contact Teri. We offer scholarships\, for those in financial need\, to help to make this retreat possible for all. \nRegistration\nConvo registration is online. Each youth and adult registering must fill out an online registration form. We are using a new registration system this year . One of the features of our new system will allow you to able to register multiple people at the same time for Convo. If you have difficulties with the registration process\, please contact us and we’d be happy to help! \nYour registration fee includes your lodging as well as food from dinner Saturday through breakfast on Monday. \nConvo Dance theme this year is Pajama Party. \nRegistration will close at 11:59PM PST May 7th\, 2018. \nRegistration is Closed\nHelpful Files: \nConvo 18 Poster \nConvo 2018 Postcard \nWorkshopDescriptions \nConvo 18 Banner or Facebook Cover Photo \nConvo_2018_Scholarship_Form \nConvo FAQ \nMore about our Speaker:Rev. Hannah Adair Bonner is the Director of Frontera Wesley\, the Wesley Foundation of Tucson. She did her undergraduate work in Psychology and Gender Studies at Furman University\, and received her Masters from Duke University Divinity School. In 2016\, she was recognized nationally as one of the “16 Faith Leaders to Watch in 2016\,” inducted as an honorary member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority\, Inc.\, and given the Prathia Hall Social Justice Award. Her first curriculum\, published by Abingdon Press in 2016\, is entitled “The Shout: Finding the Prophetic Voice in Unexpected Places.” Dedicated to amplifying the voices of young women\, she has produced two short film series\, “The Impact of Sandra Bland” and “Facing Christmas”\, as well as a documentary released in 2017\, “Awaken the Voice.” An avid hiker\, Hannah can be found most evenings admiring a saguaro cactus along one of Tucson’s many trails.

SUMMARY:CONVO 2017
DESCRIPTION:Over Memorial Day weekend\, hundreds of Youth (grades 6-12) and adult youth workers will gather at the University of Puget Sound for CONVO\, three days of worship\, fun\, and learning. This United Methodist youth retreat is a fantastic opportunity to connect with friends new and old from across the Pacific Northwest!\n\nThis year’s theme is “BOLDLY GO and make a difference.” Our speaker\, Chelsea Spyres will lead us in exploring how we can be the change we want to see: in ourselves\, our church\, our families\, and in our communities. You can read more about Chelsea below. \nEvery year\, CONVO is planned by an excellent team of youth and supportive adults who have a passion and dedication to making this the best event it can be; this year is no exception. We’ve been hosting this “Bishop’s Youth CONVOcation” for over 40 years and we are praying for a weekend where both youth and adults are equipped and recharged to live as passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. \nWe hope you will join us in boldly going to CONVO on May 27-29! \nWho Can Go?\nCONVO is for youth currently in grades 6 – 12 and their adult leaders (sorry\, no mature 5th graders). We ask churches to send one adult\, who has completed a national background check\, to accompany every 1- 6 youth of each gender. We will try to accommodate youth in cases where this isn’t possible. We offer scholarships\, for those in financial need\, to help to make this retreat possible for all. \nRegistration\nCONVO registration is online. Each youth and adult registering must fill out an online registration form. If you have difficulties with the registration process\, please contact us and we’d be happy to help! \nYour registration fee includes your lodging as well as food from dinner Saturday through breakfast on Monday. \nRegistration will close at 9PM PST May 10th\, 2017.\nDue to website issues earlier this week we are leaving registration open until Friday morning May 12th 8AM. \nCLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER
