SUMMARY:Hispanic/Latino Youth Camp
DESCRIPTION:Who Do You Say I Am? (Matthew 16:15)\nDear Pastors/Youth Directors\, \nWe are so excited to invite you and your youth group to this year’s youth camp. This year we will base our retreat on the scripture found in Matthew 16:15. Our desire is that all youth can experience the presence of God during this time. This year we will have multiple speakers to lead our youth both in God’s word and in worship. \nCost: $70 per student \nAges: 12 – 21 years old (we ask that each youth group comes with chaperone as well.) \nRemember that with 7 students\, a youth director or chaperone comes in for free. \nWe will also have some friendly competition this year where your church will have an opportunity to take some trophies back home. We will have an art piece competition where we ask that the entire youth group from your church can work together to make a masterpiece. This piece has to have the theme of Matthew 16:15. We will also have a Bible trivia based on the whole chapter 16 of Matthew\, so study up. We will have some awesome workshops with topics that focus on our youth. \nThese Workshops will be provided: \n\nThe Heart of a Worshiper – Esteban Rodas\nLive out Your Singleness/Dating God’s Way – Joshua Saucedo\nWhy on Earth am I Here For!? – Hector Saucedo \nCall to Lead – Eli Martinez\n\nHope to see you there this year. \nBlessings\, \nPastor Eli & Sarah Martinez

We will explore how God’s love and faith keep us steadfast and give us hope even during the storms and trials of life. \nEvery year\, Convo is planned by an excellent team of youth and supportive adults who have a passion and dedication to making this the best event it can be; this year is no exception. We’ve been hosting this “Bishop’s Youth Convocation” for over 40 years and we are praying for a weekend where both youth and adults are equipped and recharged to live as passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. \nConvo Dance theme this year is THROWBACK! Whether it’s suits and ties of the 1920s or the vibrant workout fits of the 80s\, everyone has their favorite retro style. Throwback and represent your favorite decades at this fun\, time-warp of a dance. \nWho Can Go?\nConvo is for youth currently in grades 6 – 12 and their adult leaders. We ask churches to send one adult\, who has completed a national background check\, to accompany every 1- 6 youth of each gender. We will try to accommodate youth in cases where this isn’t possible. Cost is $175 for all retreat participants both youth and adults. We do offer a discount to those who are leading workshops or small groups. If you are leading a workshop or small group and you do not have your discount code please contact Teri. We offer scholarships\, for those in financial need\, to help to make this retreat possible for all. \nRegistration\nConvo registration is online. Each youth and adult registering must fill out an online registration form. Youth Leaders can choose to register their entire group at once (contact Teri for details and a registration form).  \nRegistration will close at 11:59PM PST May 9th\, 2019. \n  \nCLICK HERE to register today!\n  \nHelpful Files\nConvo Poster \nConvo Banner or Facebook Cover Photo \nConvo Quarter page flyers \nCONVO_Scholarship_Form \nWorkshop Flyer 2019 \nMore about our Speaker \nLeroy Barber has dedicated 30 years to eradicating poverty\, confronting homelessness\, restoring local neighborhoods\, healing racism\, and living what Dr. King called “the beloved community.” \nLeroy starts projects that shape society; in 1989\, burdened by the plight of Philadelphia’s homeless\, he and his wife Donna founded Restoration Ministries\, to serve homeless families and children living on the streets. In 1994 he became Director of Internship Programs at Cornerstone Christian Academy. Leroy was licensed and ordained at Mt Zion Baptist Church where he served as Youth Director with Donna\, and also served as Associate Minister of Evangelism.  In 1997\, he joined FCS Urban Ministries\, working with Atlanta Youth Project to serve as the founding Executive Director of Atlanta Youth Academies\, a private elementary school providing quality Christian education for low-income families in the inner city.  Leroy also helped found DOOR Atlanta\, Community Life Church\, South Atlanta Marketplace\, and Community Grounds Coffee shop in Atlanta\, as well as Green My Hood and The Voices Project. \nLeroy is currently the Developer of Congregational Vitality with Oregon-Idaho Conference of United Methodist Church. SUMMARY:CANCELLED: Indianola Young Adult Social Justice Retreat
DESCRIPTION:“What does the Lord require of you but to do justice\, to love kindness\, and to walk humbly with your God.”\n-Micah 6:8\n\nWhat is your part in changing the world?\nDo you feel overwhelmed by injustice you see in the news? Ever feel helpless and lost when looking for ways to make a difference in the world? \nWe all have our part to play\, and as followers of Christ\, we feel the burden of pain and hardship in the world around us. Our communities\, country\, and world should be places of peace\, justice\, and thriving for everyone. Sometimes the challenges can feel so big and our abilities so small. But you can be a part of addressing major social challenges and moving the Gospel forward in the lives of those around you. \nJoin us Saturday\, Jan 19\, 2pm – Monday\, Jan 21\, 11am\nWe’ll be joined by Lyda Pierce\, Director of Hispanic & Latino Ministries for the Pacific Northwest United Methodist Conference\, as we explore social justice through the lens of Christian faith. Break-out sessions will help you get involved in your own community and apply Lyda’s wisdom. \nCost: $80 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The United Methodist Church believes God’s love for the world is an active and engaged love\, a love seeking justice and liberty. We cannot just be observers. So we care enough about people’s lives to risk interpreting God’s love\, to take a stand\, to call each of us into a response\, no matter how controversial or complex. The church helps us think and act out a faith perspective\, not just responding to all the other ‘mind-makers-up’ that exist in our society.”\n-The Book of Resolutions of The United Methodist Church 2016\n\n

SUMMARY:Convo 2018
DESCRIPTION:Over Memorial Day weekend\, hundreds of Youth (grades 6-12) and adult youth workers will gather at the University of Puget Sound for Convo\, three days of worship\, fun\, and learning. This United Methodist youth retreat is a fantastic opportunity to connect with friends new and old from across the Pacific Northwest!\n\nOur theme this year is Instruments of Peace.  Our speaker\, Rev. Hannah Adair Bonner will lead us in learning more about becoming an Instrument of Peace. We will be exploring tools to help us learn how to be a better participant in difficult conversations.\n \nEvery year\, Convo is planned by an excellent team of youth and supportive adults who have a passion and dedication to making this the best event it can be; this year is no exception. We’ve been hosting this “Bishop’s Youth Convocation” for over 40 years and we are praying for a weekend where both youth and adults are equipped and recharged to live as passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. We are using a new registration system this year . One of the features of our new system will allow you to able to register multiple people at the same time for Convo. If you have difficulties with the registration process\, please contact us and we’d be happy to help! \nYour registration fee includes your lodging as well as food from dinner Saturday through breakfast on Monday. \nConvo Dance theme this year is Pajama Party. \nRegistration will close at 11:59PM PST May 7th\, 2018. \nRegistration is Closed\nHelpful Files: \nConvo 18 Poster \nConvo 2018 Postcard \nWorkshopDescriptions \nConvo 18 Banner or Facebook Cover Photo \nConvo_2018_Scholarship_Form \nConvo FAQ \nMore about our Speaker:Rev.
