DESCRIPTION:7 Rivers District Retreat for Laity & Clergy\nAnxiety & Hope: Embodying hope in anxious times\nMarch 29-31\, 2019 \nLazy F Camp and Retreat Center \nWe live in anxious times. Each new change we face\, be it in our family\, our church\, or our nation\, brings a fresh wave. When faced with change or the anxiety of others\, the one thing we have control over is ourselves. The way we engage the situation can either calm the anxiety or feed it. Join retreat leaders Sue Magrath and Dr. Denise McGuinness to explore how to process your own anxiety and be a non-anxious presence for others. \nWe begin with dinner on Friday evening followed by a time of centering and an introduction to our topic. Saturday leads us deeper and includes a presentation and Q & A on the previous month’s General Conference 2019 by DS Mary Huycke\, the clergy delegate from our Annual Conference. SUMMARY:Safety Advocate Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Conference staff will be offering webinars for individuals who are interested in becoming a Safety Advocate for their church\, or in getting re-certified for this important role. Safety Advocates are responsible for promoting and maintaining Safe Church policies and for providing an avenue for vulnerable persons to voice a concern or problem. \nTo serve as a Safety Advocate\, you must first pass a national background check\, and complete the basic abuse awareness training offered through Ministry Safe in addition to this component (please share the church you’ve done this with when you RSVP). \n\nParticipants will need to review the Conference Safe Sanctuaries Guidelines (Click here for the Guidelines) and also take this short quiz before participating in the webinar.
