SUMMARY:Love Boldly - Serve Joyfully - Lead Courageously - UMCOR's Early Response Team Basic Training
DESCRIPTION:Now is the time to get ready and join the next mission. \nAn ERT Basic Training is set for Saturday\, September 26 in person at Des Moines United Methodist Church (22225 9th Ave. S\, Des Moines\, WA 98198) from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. PT. The ERT Basic Training will prepare you on ways to clean out a flooded home\, haul debris\, sort ashes and work alongside survivors while staying safe. DESCRIPTION:Lay Servants who have completed the Basic Course are invited to participate in this five-week class on living our United Methodist beliefs\, led by Nancy Goddard\, CLM\, from October 19 – November 16\, 2026. The class will be held on Zoom on Mondays from 6:00-8:00 PM. This class is worth 1 CEU and counts toward either Lay Servant or Lay Speaker Certification. It is also a prerequisite for Certified Lay Minister Modules. \nThis course will explore the special gifts of theology\, witness\, and organization that The UMC brings to the church universal\, how we got where we are today\, and how our distinctive emphases are still needed in the 21st-century church.
