DESCRIPTION:West Side PNW Youth Present:\nWinter Youth Overnighter: Love is Justice\n\nGet ready for an unforgettable night packed with faith\, fun\, and real conversations! \nThis high-energy overnight experience will dive into what God’s justice looks like in our everyday lives—through powerful worship\, engaging small groups\, exciting games\, and late-night talks that matter. Students will explore how love and justice work together in God’s Kingdom while building strong friendships and lasting memories. \nDate: Saturday to Sunday February 28th- March 1st \nAddress: Faith UMC 3924 Issaquah-Pine Lake Rd SE Issaquah\, WA 98029 \nTime: 1:00 PM on Saturday to 12:00 PM after worship on Sunday \nWho: Youth 6-12th grades \nCost: $10 \nDetails: This overnight is a gathering of youth and their leaders from multiple United Methodist Churches. Each church is expected to provide chaperones with their youth. Please reach out if this is a challenge for your church. \nWe are asking that each youth be registered individually through the link. Columbia and Sage districts in the Oregon-Idaho Conference ran a pilot version of this webinar in January 2025. It was so helpful to participants that we are using it throughout Oregon-Idaho and the Pacific Northwest Conferences this coming January. \nWho: Members of the SPRC (Staff Parish Relations Committee or equivalent leaders at churches with a single board structure) are invited to this webinar. Churches that have clear openings (due to receive a new pastor on July 1\, 2026) are expected to have at least two SPRC members who participate in these sessions. If you believe your pastor’s appointment may change\, attending would be an excellent and proactive step. \nWhat: A 90-minute Zoom meeting with superintendents who will describe the appointment process\, including the roles of the superintendent\, SPRC chair\, SPRC members\, and the new pastor. \nWhen/Where: The same information is being offered at two different times; you can choose which fits your schedule.  *Zoom links will be emailed to Churches and SPRC chairs in January. \n\nTuesday\, Jan. 13\, 6:30 p.m. PT / 7:30 p.m. MT\nSaturday\, Jan. 24\, 9 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. MT\n\nWhy: Since most churches don’t regularly participate in the appointment process\, it’s normal to have many questions. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an ICE OUT FOR GOOD VIGIL on Sunday\, January 11 from 4-5 p.m. We join with other groups and churches around the country this weekend to name our outrage over the death of Renee Nicole Good and the shooting in Portland of Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras by Immigration Enforcement officers. \nHosted by Edmonds United Methodist Church\, this will be a reflective service as we name the harms and injustices in our government and light candles in memory of those who’ve died in Detention Centers or shot by Immigration Enforcement officers. It will be followed by a short candlelight march on church grounds.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Pacific Northwest United Methodist Church\, fellow followers of Jesus\, and all people who love justice\, as we practice solidarity with those who are detained inside the Northwest Detention Center! \n\n\n\nAs followers of Jesus\, we are mandated to care for our immigrant neighbors. As United Methodists\, we vehemently oppose the mass deportation plans of this administration and join our voices with La Resistencia in an effort to shut down the Northwest Detention Center and Free Them All! \n\n\n\nWe follow the lead\, and accept the invitation of\, La Resistencia\, a group of community members who listen first to those most impacted on the inside of NWDC\, in a campaign to free them all and shut down the Detention Center once and for all. \n\n\n\nRSVP today!\nPlease RSVP so we can plan accordingly and consider volunteering in one of the important support roles below:Hospitality: bringing donations of sunscreen (if it’s sunny)\,  granola bars\, fruit\, water bottles\, trash bags Greeters: passing out the hospitality items and intentionally saying hello as people gather Safety Team: attend one Zoom call earlier in that week to be briefed on safety protocols and arrive at least an hour early on the day of the action. SUMMARY:Grief Workshop With Sue Magrath
DESCRIPTION:Clergy of the Inland and Seven Rivers districts are invited to attend a four-week class on grief led by Sue Magrath from January 9th – 30th. The class will be held on Zoom on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:30 PM and will count as one CEU of your continuing education requirement. \nBased on Magrath’s new book\, Love Abides: The Sacrament of Grieving\, this class will explore the myths about grief and the many life events and losses that result in grief. We will examine the life experiences that shaped our thoughts about grief and how to challenge unhealthy beliefs and responses. We will dive into the situations unique to ministry that lead to grief yet are not always recognized as such. We will share our own grief stories\, practice the language of lament\, and gain more understanding of how to compassionately walk with parishioners who are grieving\, especially when their loss leads to a crisis of faith. Lastly\, we will seek to find meaning in our losses and transform them in life-giving ways that open us to hope and healing. \nSue Magrath is a retired mental health counselor and spiritual director who has been active in the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference for fourteen years. She has led retreats and workshops\, worked in clergy wellness\, served on the Board of Ordained Ministry’s formation committee\, and preached whenever she has the opportunity. Sue has led Advanced Boundary classes every quadrennium since 2012.
