Students will explore how love and justice work together in God’s Kingdom while building strong friendships and lasting memories. \nDate: Saturday to Sunday February 28th- March 1st \nAddress: Faith UMC 3924 Issaquah-Pine Lake Rd SE Issaquah\, WA 98029 \nTime: 1:00 PM on Saturday to 12:00 PM after worship on Sunday \nWho: Youth 6-12th grades \nCost: $10 \nDetails: This overnight is a gathering of youth and their leaders from multiple United Methodist Churches. Each church is expected to provide chaperones with their youth. Please reach out if this is a challenge for your church. \nWe are asking that each youth be registered individually through the link. DESCRIPTION:Are you looking for a fun event for your youth that will connect them with other youth in the area? Join the Crest 2 Coast youth for an escape room overnighter at Puyallup UMC! Your church does not have to be in the C2C district in order to participate. \nPlease use this form to register your youth group. Youth leaders should register their youth groups\, fill out a roster\, and prepare all medical and photo release documents. \nEach youth group should plan to provide background-checked and trained adults. Let us know if that’s an issue and we can work with you. \nIf you are a youth leader interested in helping to plan the event\, there will be a Zoom meeting at 10 a.m. on Oct. 3. This is an introductory training appropriate for church leaders who are interested in creating networks of support for those affected by suicidal desperation in their church and their communities. \nSoul Shop’s mission is to equip faith communities to save lives and to bring hope to those affected by suicidal desperation. Kathleen Weber\, District Superintendent for the Crest to Coast District and the Crest to Coast Missional District invite you to attend: \nImplicit Bias Training \nThe Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity defines Implicit bias as the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding\, actions\, and decisions in an unconscious manner. In this workshop that meets the PNW quadrennial cultural competency training requirement for clergy\, we will spend time understanding and examining the implicit bias that we carry. The day will be divided into three areas of exploration: 1) personal reflection around race\, and to a lesser degree class\, lens and background; 2)historical events\, policies\, etc. that determined the trajectory of race and class in our nation and make connections to current day status quo; and 3) organization and person next steps and commitments. There will be time for individual reflection\, small group time\, whole group sharing and another solo reflection time to integrate new learnings on our own. \n\nAnita Garcia Morales\nMeet Your Presenter \nAnita Garcia Morales grew up in a migrant farm worker family in Eastern Washington. She served Seattle Public Schools for 35 years\, with the first 22 as a classroom teacher. When she retired in 2016\, Anita was an Equity & Race Relations Specialist and co-designed and co-facilitated racial equity training for all levels of district staff. \nNow an independent consultant\, Anita continues this work with organizations looking to make systemic change. Anita is a Senior Trainer with Class Action\, a non-profit whose mission is to inspire action to end classism (www.classism.org). She also facilitates Courage & Renewal Circles of Trust for folks who work serving children and their families. She teaches in the University of Washington Seattle Teacher Residency Program and is a Positive Discipline Certified Parent and Educator Trainer. \nAnita does all her work with young people in mind. Whether working with municipalities\, non-profits\, religious organizations\, corporations\, city or state government\, pre-K-12\, higher education\, etc.; Anita understands that our young people are always watching and learning from the adults around them. \nIn all the circles Anita convenes\, she honors the gifts and knowledge people bring\, and with them\, creates and maintains environments that invite taking risks\, making mistakes and learning from and with each other. Anita received her B.A. and teaching degree from the University of Washington. DESCRIPTION:As summer heats up\, plans for a cool concert event are coming together at Vancouver First United Methodist Church in downtown Vancouver\, slated for Saturday\, August 17th. \nEncore Rocks: A Youth Praise Experience will feature The Band Phoenix\, and be an event full of food\, fun and fellowship for youth across the Methodist district and Vancouver area. We would like to extend an invitation to youth groups from our neighboring United Methodist churches to come join together in a cool space\, the Jason Lee Hall at Vancouver First United Methodist Church\, to enjoy a taco/nacho bar and meet and greet other youth from the area. We will gather at 4 p.m. \nThe Band Phoenix\, a local praise band\, will kick off a concert of rock praise music featuring sets of some of today’s hottest hits. Following the concert\, there will be a host of activities to take part in.
