DESCRIPTION:As summer heats up\, plans for a cool concert event are coming together at Vancouver First United Methodist Church in downtown Vancouver\, slated for Saturday\, August 17th. \nEncore Rocks: A Youth Praise Experience will feature The Band Phoenix\, and be an event full of food\, fun and fellowship for youth across the Methodist district and Vancouver area. We would like to extend an invitation to youth groups from our neighboring United Methodist churches to come join together in a cool space\, the Jason Lee Hall at Vancouver First United Methodist Church\, to enjoy a taco/nacho bar and meet and greet other youth from the area. We will gather at 4 p.m. \nThe Band Phoenix\, a local praise band\, will kick off a concert of rock praise music featuring sets of some of today’s hottest hits. Following the concert\, there will be a host of activities to take part in. If you or youth you know are interested in performing a song\, we will have time devoted to open mic as the evening’s mixer continues. \nThe event will be hosted by the youth of VanFUMC\, and a freewill donation of $5 will be accepted to offset costs\, or non-perishable food items will be collected for the local food banks. \nFor more information\, contact VanFUMC at 360.693.5881\, email program@vanfumc.org\, or stop by the church at 401 E. 33rd Street\, Vancouver\, Washington.

The theme will be Crossing Over from Competition to Collaboration. In line with the Bishop’s invitation to a CrossOver year\, we will spend the day engaging in conversation about collaboration in ministry. Homelessness 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament \nBenefiting Council for the Homeless of Clark County \n\n\n\nCalling all golfers: Methodist churches in the greater Portland and Vancouver areas are organizing the third annual Drive Out golf tournament to benefit homelessness. \nThe tournament will be held at the private Orchard Hills Golf and Country Club in Washougal\, WA on Saturday\, September 16th\, 2017. \nA four-person scramble format will allow golfers of every ability to enjoy the course together. Join us for a day of fun in the sun for a great cause! Players can register individually\, with one or two friends\, or as a foursome! \nREGISTER HERE\n\n\nWant to help? \nVolunteer! Persons interested in volunteering with greeting\, guest services\, or other aspects of the event are encouraged to email vancouver@pnwumc.org with their interest! \nDonate! DESCRIPTION:Register NOW!!\nWe are clearly living in anxious times.  Our communities are deeply divided and sometimes it’s hard to navigate how we are to move forward as individuals as well as faith communities.  Dr. Frank Rogers\, author of “The Way of Jesus\, Compassion in Practice\,” has been invited to help us circumnavigate our way into the future\, offering healing and hope in a broken world.  Following the way of Jesus\, Dr. Rogers offers a way to live compassionately “when our world threatens to consume us\, throbbing with boundless discrimination\, violence\, and greed.” \nThe Vancouver District invites you to join us as we develop our personal spiritual lives and explore practical ways to be compassionate in a fractured world.  It is our belief that Jesus offers us a real solution to the challenges before us.  And that solution is to act as God’s heartbeat; pumping grace into whatever community we find ourselves a part.  Together we will explore how Jesus teaches us how to be at peace and how we can help heal our anxious world in the months and years to come. \nWe will also be offering some Nuts & Bolts style trainings in the afternoon: \n\nFinance: Rik Jameson\nTrustees: Brant Henshaw\nStaff Parish Relations: Rev.
