SUMMARY:POSTPONED - Women in Ministry Retreat 2026
DESCRIPTION:NOTICE – On behalf of the Women in Ministry Retreat Planning Team\, we wanted to share that due to scheduling challenges and low registration we have made the decision to postpone this year’s gathering to Spring of 2027. We hope to have more information about the 2027 gathering later in the fall this year.  \nJoin us for a time of rest\, renewal and connection as we set aside time to dwell in the Holy Week experience for ourselves. This is a time to step back from the business of the season and engage with the elements we would normally plan and lead. \nThis year\, the Women in Ministry retreat will be held this year at Lazy F Camp & Retreat Center on March 26-28\, 2026\, with the theme “A Holy Week for all of us.” All who identify as women in ministry are invited\, including candidates for ministry. \nIn addition to sessions\, participants will be invited to care for themselves throughout the retreat. The retreat agenda will include plenty of free time to explore the camp and surrounding area\, reconnect with each other\, and share resources. In our culture\, however\, we have forgotten how to share our grief with one another. When we add to our personal losses the experience of economic instability\, ecological degradation\, the extinction of species\, individual and collective health crises\, and the unrest and turmoil within human societies\, the burden of grief that we are carrying as individuals can begin to feel unbearable. There are very few spaces where we are invited to experience and express this complex grief in community. This retreat will utilize Francis Weller’s “Five Gates of Grief” to connect participants to their distinct and multifaceted experiences of grief in the context of a co-created “village.” \nThe weekend will be facilitated by experienced grief mentors who have apprenticed in the grief ritual tradition of the Dagara tribe as brought to the U.S. and shared by Malidoma and Sobonfu Somé. We have been oriented to this tradition through mentorship with Francis Weller and others. Participants will be guided through chanting\, poetry\, teaching\, writing exercises\, small group sharing\, and the creation of a grief shrine. Our time together will culminate in a communal grief ritual\, in which we will witness and support each other as we move into the shared experience and expression of our sorrows and losses. Homelessness 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament \nBenefiting Council for the Homeless of Clark County \n\n\n\nCalling all golfers: Methodist churches in the greater Portland and Vancouver areas are organizing the third annual Drive Out golf tournament to benefit homelessness. \nThe tournament will be held at the private Orchard Hills Golf and Country Club in Washougal\, WA on Saturday\, September 16th\, 2017. \nA four-person scramble format will allow golfers of every ability to enjoy the course together. Join us for a day of fun in the sun for a great cause! Players can register individually\, with one or two friends\, or as a foursome! \nREGISTER HERE\n\n\nWant to help? \nVolunteer! His book Leadership and Organization for Fruitful Congregations is being used by many churches in the Northwest to think about a simpler and more effective approach to church governance.
