SUMMARY:Crossing Over Into Abundant Life - Crest to Coast Missional District Training
DESCRIPTION:Scripture: I came that they may have life\, and have it abundantly.\nKeynote Speaker: Rev. Shalom Agtarap “Talent Scouts and Treasure Hunters”\nClick Here to Register Today!\nWorkshops (please choose 2 workshops: 1 for AM & 1 for PM) \nSmall Church Vitality \nIn the church we often get distracted by programs\, finances\, and politics\, and forget that everyone needs to experience God’s love. We’ll talk about ways to refocus our ministries on what matters most to abundant life: being loved by God and telling others about it. \nEarthquake Preparedness \nAre you ready for the big one? How can you prepare? The Cascadia earthquake and tsunami will be the largest natural disaster in history to hit the United States. The FEMA Region X Director has stated that “everything west of I-5 will be toast”. Come learn what we can expect and explore ways to be better prepared. \nCommunity Partnerships Panel \nThis panel will explore the different ways our local churches are partnering with other organizations to make a greater impact in the community. This discussion is designed to reflect on and seek inspiration for new ways we can be more effective in ministry when working with other secular and faith-based organizations. \nPanel will include partnerships with Habitat for Humanity\, Car Camping\, Family Promise\, Literacy Project and Recovery Café. \nAlternative Worship Panel \nIs there one way to worship? No! Messy church\, church inside\, church outside\, and more. This panel offers different approaches to worship. \nLet’s Get Together: Collaborative Conversation \nMore information coming soon \nHow to Connect with your Community: One-on-One Conversations \nMore information coming soon \nClick Here to Register Today!

SUMMARY:Convo 2019
DESCRIPTION:Over Memorial Day weekend\, hundreds of Youth (grades 6-12) and adult youth workers will gather at the University of Puget Sound for Convo\, three days of worship\, fun\, and learning. This United Methodist youth retreat is a fantastic opportunity to connect with friends new and old from across the Pacific Northwest!\n\nOur theme this year is The Journey. Our speaker\, Rev. Dr. Leroy Barber\, a member of the Greater Northwest Area Innovation Vitality Team\, will help us explore how we navigate the great journey of life especially as we work through times of uncertainty and trouble. We will explore how God’s love and faith keep us steadfast and give us hope even during the storms and trials of life. \nEvery year\, Convo is planned by an excellent team of youth and supportive adults who have a passion and dedication to making this the best event it can be; this year is no exception. We’ve been hosting this “Bishop’s Youth Convocation” for over 40 years and we are praying for a weekend where both youth and adults are equipped and recharged to live as passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. \nConvo Dance theme this year is THROWBACK! Whether it’s suits and ties of the 1920s or the vibrant workout fits of the 80s\, everyone has their favorite retro style. Throwback and represent your favorite decades at this fun\, time-warp of a dance. \nWho Can Go?\nConvo is for youth currently in grades 6 – 12 and their adult leaders. We ask churches to send one adult\, who has completed a national background check\, to accompany every 1- 6 youth of each gender. We will try to accommodate youth in cases where this isn’t possible. Cost is $175 for all retreat participants both youth and adults. We do offer a discount to those who are leading workshops or small groups. If you are leading a workshop or small group and you do not have your discount code please contact Teri. We offer scholarships\, for those in financial need\, to help to make this retreat possible for all. \nRegistration\nConvo registration is online. Each youth and adult registering must fill out an online registration form. Youth Leaders can choose to register their entire group at once (contact Teri for details and a registration form).  \nRegistration will close at 11:59PM PST May 9th\, 2019. \n  \nCLICK HERE to register today!\n  \nHelpful Files\nConvo Poster \nConvo Banner or Facebook Cover Photo \nConvo Quarter page flyers \nCONVO_Scholarship_Form \nWorkshop Flyer 2019 \nMore about our Speaker \nLeroy Barber has dedicated 30 years to eradicating poverty\, confronting homelessness\, restoring local neighborhoods\, healing racism\, and living what Dr. King called “the beloved community.” \nLeroy starts projects that shape society; in 1989\, burdened by the plight of Philadelphia’s homeless\, he and his wife Donna founded Restoration Ministries\, to serve homeless families and children living on the streets. Leroy was licensed and ordained at Mt Zion Baptist Church where he served as Youth Director with Donna\, and also served as Associate Minister of Evangelism.  In 1997\, he joined FCS Urban Ministries\, working with Atlanta Youth Project to serve as the founding Executive Director of Atlanta Youth Academies\, a private elementary school providing quality Christian education for low-income families in the inner city.  Leroy also helped found DOOR Atlanta\, Community Life Church\, South Atlanta Marketplace\, and Community Grounds Coffee shop in Atlanta\, as well as Green My Hood and The Voices Project. \nLeroy is currently the Developer of Congregational Vitality with Oregon-Idaho Conference of United Methodist Church.
