Bellevue First UMC (Bellevue, WA): P/T Missional Community Director

Bellevue First United Methodist Church ( seeks a new part time Missional Community Director. The purpose of this role is to create dynamic opportunities for missional community and engagement outside of Sunday morning worship services that reflect our core ministry focus areas of: Community Building, Spiritual Practice, Helping Others, and Deep Thinking. This will be done through: (1) the development of a thriving small group ministry, (2) helping to lead and support our various Sunday experiences and (3) creating dynamic connections for community life both within and outside traditional church membership.

Bellevue First United Methodist Church is a progressive congregation near the center of Bellevue, Washington. As a part of the greater Seattle area, the city of Bellevue is in a rapidly growing location, and its focus is on both urban and suburban ministry. Bellevue First is a long time reconciling church and strives to be a voice for the undeserved and marginalized in the community.

Responsibilities of this position:

• Develop a thriving network of Community Groups that embody our core values of: (1) Community Building, (2) Spiritual Practice, (3) Helping Others, and (4) Deep Thinking
• Serve as the primary leader of new and established Community Groups, which includes ongoing teaching, leadership development, curriculum, and engagement with each group
• Provide oversight to a digital database of Community groups, maintain accurate records of each group’s membership, and help modify (stop or grow) new groups as needed
• Serve as one of the primary leaders on Sunday mornings (volunteering, set-up, teaching, liturgy, etc.)

Qualifications for this position:

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Christian Theology, Christian Ministry, or a relevant field
• Experience (3+ years) in professional Christian ministry
• Expresses a call to vocational Christian ministry
