Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center continues in its quest to provide a place at the table for everyone at the camp. Dining conditions at the United Methodist camp are tight, but plans are coming together to resolve this issue and things are moving forward to make it possible.

On Sunday, September 25th, a kick off banquet was held in Ellensburg at the residence of a local couple who were married at Lazy F Camp, are members of Ellensburg UMC, and are supporters of Lazy F. You really could not wish for more for the event: the weather was ideal, the music was fantastic (delivered by a band whose members met at Lazy F Senior High Camp), the setting was gorgeous, and the meal was delicious. About 180 people attended the gala and had a wonderful time. We heard numerous comments about how it was “the best fundraising dinner ever”. And they were not rookies to the fundraising circuit!

With this event and other action in the works, we are close to surpassing the $1 million mark in the campaign to build a new dining hall.

This very pleasant evening was full of good will, but also had a great response financially.  The cost of the event was fully funded by two event sponsors, 10 table sponsors, and several businesses providing in kind donations of products. Those attending the event gave and pledged over $50,000 that one night! With this event and other action in the works, we are close to surpassing the $1 million mark in the campaign to build a new dining hall. We are poised to keep moving with three similar events in Yakima, the Tri-Cities, and Newcastle this fall. It is like a road show! We are still getting ready to reach out the United Methodist Churches in our Conference, but these banquets take a lot of energy (and we are still hosting groups on site!).

  1. A wonderful setting for spiritual formation for all ages and stages of life. We were inspired to make a generous donation to help finance the planning stages of this project. Thanks to all who are motivated to help in construction costs. It will be so satisfying to see and use the finished product.
