The Basic Course is open to any United Methodist who desires to be more effective in ministry to the local church. Lay Speaking Ministries equips the Laity to respond to God's call in many areas of service. The Basic Course helps laypersons explore what God is calling them to do.

Advanced Course – Leading In Prayer

Two identical sessions (choose one):
October 25, 9 am – 3 pm November 1, 9 am – 3 pm

This Advanced Course is designed for Certified Lay Speakers or Local Church Lay Speakers who want to learn more about both personal prayer and leading public prayer. It will be a "hands-on" opportunity to compose various forms and types of prayers, and learn to comfortably lead groups in prayer. We will also take a look at personal prayer and share some of our thinking about this important part of our Christian life.

Advanced Course – Go Preach!

This Advanced Course, required for those who wish to be considered for Pulpit Supply, will be scheduled after the Basic Course. Dates and location will be subject to discussion by those in the Basic Course who want to participate in the class.

	Lay Speaking Ministries Public speaking is only one area of this ministry. The Basic Course is designed for those who would like to have a better understanding of The UMC and be better equipped to respond to God’s call to service. You are invited to come and learn more.
