Looking for “Hundred Dollar Holiday”?
Recently, the Conference Stewardship Emphasis (SE) produced a study guide to accompany the book “Hundred Dollar Holiday: The Case for a More Joyful Christmas” (by Bill McKibben). It has come to the attention of SE staff that some people have had difficulty in ordering/purchasing this book through local booksellers. As a result the SE staff have ordered 20 copies of this book and will send them to those who would like copies. The cost for each book is $12.00 and the SE will cover all shipping costs. If you would like to purchase a copy/copies, please email tanya@umfnw.org or call (206) 784-2369. (To download a free copy of the accompanying study guide, click here www.umfnw.org.)

For churches that used the “Grace & Gratitude” stewardship resource
the Conference Stewardship Emphasis (SE) staff would greatly appreciate your feedback! SE staff would like to know if and how your church used “Grace & Gratitude: A Four-Week Worship Resource for Exploring Christian Stewardship in the Wesleyan Tradition.” This information will help SE staff to create even more helpful stewardship resources for all of the churches in our Conference. We heartily welcome any comments, stories, suggestions (brief or extensive) at tanya@umfnw.org or please go to http://pages.zdnet.com/lnelsonww/umfnw/id18.html to download a brief feedback form. New Advent Resource from the PNW Stewardship Emphasis
New Advent Resource from the PNW Stewardship Emphasis: Congregational Study & Resource Guide for “Hundred Dollar Holiday: The Case for a More Joyful Christmas” (by Bill McKibben) It’s easy to get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of Christmastime that we forget to ask what is the real point of celebrating Christmas? Bill McKibben’s (a writer and United Methodist Sunday school superintendent) practical little book – “Hundred Dollar Holiday” – suggests that, “The point is to emerge from Christmas with some real sense that Christ has come into your world.” His book proposes ways in which we can better prepare our hearts to receive Christ, by letting go of some of the commercialism and frenzy that distract us the real point of Christmas. The PNW Conference Stewardship Emphasis has created a one-to-three-session Study Guide to foster conversation and action around McKibben’s book. In addition to thought-provoking discussion questions, the guide contains prayers and a resource section for celebrating a more meaningful and joyful Christmas. For a copy of this free Study & Resource Guide, please www.umfnw.org or call 800-488-4179.
