Housing and Volunteers Needed.
Can you assist? Tribal leaders and denominational leaders from across the conference will gather on Thursday, Dec. 6 to Sat. Dec. 8 at Daybreak Star Cultural Center in Seattle on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the 1987 Apology from faith communities to First peoples for complicity in their oppression. It was renewed in 1997. The Apology was carried by American Indian and Alaska Native peoples throughout the Americas and around the world. As 2007 closes, Native elders will reflect on what flowed from the Apology and consider with faith leaders their hopes for future relationship between Christian faith communities and Native peoples. Would you be willing to house Native elders for this gathering? If so, please contact Elizabeth Maupin at elipeter@juno.com . Would you be willing to volunteer at the event? If so, contact Anna Conklin at aconklin@pnwumc.org . Thank you for offering hospitality in this way. All congregations are invited to pray for this gathering and the commitments that arise from our conversation together.
