In December 2006, Micah Coleman-Campbell, son of Pastors' John and Joanne Coleman-Campbell, was one of six PNW young people who attended the United Methodist Global Young People's Convocation at Johannesburg, South Africa. Peace with Justice grants are being offered in support of projects with a mission fo building shalom. Proposals are welcome from religious institutions or private non-private organizations. Funding is limited, so requests should be for $1,000 or less. The deadline for applying has been extended to Friday, March 30th, 2007. Appointments
Bishop Paup has announced his intention to appoint Rev. Patsy Meyer-Odell currently serving Cashmere UMC to Ephrata UMC effective July 1, 2007.
Last week Bishop Edward Paup announced his intention to appoint Melvin Woodworth as pastor of University Temple United Methodist Church. Following this announcement, further consultation with University Temple and with Rev. Woodworth has led the cabinet to reconsider this decision. After prayerful consideration, Bishop Paup now announces that he no longer intends to proceed with this appointment.

Lay Speakers Ministries Basic Course Training The Seven Rivers District will be hosting a Lay Speakers Ministries Basic Course training May 5 & 19; 9:00 - 4:00 each day, lunch will be provided. The registration fee will be $40, which includes materials and both lunches. The training will be held at the Riverview UMC in Pasco. Container #3 for Democratic Republic of the Congo
It is official! Hope For the Children of Africa (HFCA) is sending another container to the Democratic Republic of the Congo early this summer! We are still working out some of the details but we would like everyone to start thinking about how they might be involved. Terrie & Mike Hobbs have agreed to coordinate this huge effort and will need lots of help. Our long list of requested items will soon be available. The specific classifications are: Education/school supplies/office supplies, Medical, Clothing/sewing/knitting, Furniture/furnishings/household goods, Computers/tech (IT) and Miscellaneous. We are asking that each church collect and bring these items to Annual Conference: toothbrushes (in original packaging), toothpaste, Band Aids, children's vitamins, and OTC meds (including antibiotic ointments), Schools supplies (pencils, pens, paper). (For items with an expiration date - it must be later than October 2008.) Please contact Terrie and Mike at skipjack@whidbey.net to volunteer!

COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM
The 2006 PNW Annual Conference adopted a Comprehensive Immigration Reform petition endorsing the “Interfaith Statement in Support of Comprehensive Immigration Reform”. The General Board of Church and Society has made available to the PNW Conference Church and Society Action Team information from the Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. The Coalition is sponsoring a nationwide conference call for advocates on Thursday, March 8, 12 Noon Pacific time during which you will get the latest information on comprehensive reform legislation and what you can do to make comprehensive reform a reality this year.
